Genetic Counselor



Genetic counselor
Duties and responsibilities:  They work with families and patients in which have birth defects, inherited or genetic diseases. They inform their patients of what precautions to take within the disease that they have. They provide educational information about professional medical and bout the genetic disorders. They inform the people who are at risk of getting these genetic disorders. They can also provide genetic testing, they can help investigate families and see why they were determined with genetic disorders, they can figure all this out by looking back at their families’ background.

Average salary:  $25,000- $55,000

Education: A master’s degree is required. Also taking challenging high school curriculums that involve science and mathematics. A strong undergraduate background in biology, chemistry, or behavioral science could also be needed. Very few states required that they be certified.


I would probably like to be a genetic counselor because, I like communicating well within people and especially if they have problems I like hearing them out and help them out.
