"Physical fitness is not only one of the most important keys to a healthy body, it is the basis of dynamic and creative intellectual activity. The relationship between the soundness of the body and the activities of the mind is subtle and complex. Much is not yet understood. But we do know that the Greeks knew: that intelligence and skill can only function at the peak of their capacity when the body is healthy and strong."

"Doing what is right, fair and honorable is more important than winning or losing."
- Chick Moorman

From this quote we can imply that no matter what you're doing is always worth the try and if you fail, it doesn't matter as long as you did what was right and you did it fairly, with absolutely no cheating involved. If you're in a sport and all you care about is winning, and you cheat your way out to win, then that's not right, that's choosing the wrong and you're obviously going to feel a lot of guilt inside of you. Doing things honorable is always the way to go, never cheat nor should you worry more about winning.
